Nepal, November 2024: Education as a Key to Development in the Mountains of Kathmandu

The Kathmandu School of Law is located in a rural mountain region of Nepal, deliberately established in an area marked by poverty and social exclusion. Notably, it serves a community that includes many people belonging to the so-called "Untouchable" caste—a group that, despite legal equality, continues to face discrimination. Our experts visited the school to discuss innovative approaches for fostering Nepal's development and to thoroughly analyze the social and economic conditions on-site. What stood out most was witnessing how this academic institution actively contributes to improving the living conditions of the local population.

Professors and students are remarkably dedicated: they conduct on-site research, advocate for the rights of the people, and develop solutions that promote both education and social inclusion. This commitment is not only academically significant but also visibly improves the lives of the local community. The Kathmandu School of Law is thus forging a new path for national development. By combining academic research with practical engagement, it not only strengthens Nepal's educational landscape but also makes a sustainable contribution to social justice. This model could serve as an example for other regions and countries facing similar challenges.
